- Well, looks like Spygate has come to a very anti-climactic closure. Commissioner Goodell said that Matt Walsh did not reveal anything new and he considers the matter closed. Walsh met with Senator Arlen Specter after he met with Goodell, and it may be that this is what is required to get an Eagles fan to shut their piehole for once.
- Minicamp reports - Two major injuries (both from the Giants camp) and one all-out brawl (from the Ravens camp). Who says this stuff is boring?
- So Brian Urlacher says that the principal reason he’s holding out for more money is because the salary cap has gone up since he signed his nine-year, $56.5 million deal five years ago. I find it really hard to be sympathetic to a guy who already gets paid a huge amount of money and holds his team hostage for more. Yeah, you play at a high level through pain and risk your body, Urlacher, but over $6 million a year is plenty of cash. You’re not doing yourself any favors.
- Seems like this offseason is just chock full of off the field incidents. From Marvin Harrison being implicated in a shooting, to Lofa Tatupu being charged with drunk driving, to ex-Cowboy and Cardinal Troy Hambrick getting 5 years in prison for selling crack. Put them in with Michael Vick, Pacman Jones, and Chris Henry, among others, and you could actually field a pretty good team of players that have run afoul of the law. Why didn’t Vince McMahon think of this? I’m convinced this is something that could have saved the XFL.
- Here’s Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo singing at a recent Cubs-Diamondbacks game at Wrigley. I think I speak for everyone when I say that he ought to leave the singing to Jessica. Share
