Well then. All the number one seeds have survived and are hurtling towards San Antonio for a historic Final Four. And I’m left to wonder about all those losers that randomly picked their brackets, knowing that the four top seeds have never made the final four in any single tournament.
Oh wait, didn’t you do that, SK?
Oh yea, never mind.
Here are the results of our Noble Experiment heading into the National Semifinal round:
Three brackets have been totally eliminated. Unfortunately for your faithful correspondent, Western Kentucky just couldn’t get it done for the completely random bracket. Texas couldn’t get it done for the Texas homer bracket, and I’m not exactly sure why, but Lika didn’t pick any of the top seeds to make the Final Four. We’re going to have to grill the ladies to determine their methodologies later, especially since my dear sister in law could actually jump into fourth place if everything plays out. But that’s the highest she could possibly go.
Since all four number ones made the final four, you’d expect the front-runner bracket to be up there, and it is, topping even the expert’s bracket. But it’s the casual fan who is sitting in first place.
So what does this go to show us? Girls do better than guys? Not always. That a little bit of knowledge is a lot of power? Maybe. You shouldn’t pick a bracket completely at random if you’re trying to win money? Definitely.
How about that you should always pick the top seeds? Well, we’ll certainly find that out after this Monday, won’t we? Until then…
