This is NOT cool. I don’t want to win this! Why did you talk me into being the front-runner?

Do you realize this will be the first ever NCAA pool (or any other kind of pool) I’d have EVER won (if I do go on and win)? What if I taste this victory and I like it? Am I not in danger of using this formula again in the future? You know what will that do to my psyche? This may make me rethink the attitude I have held throughout my entire sports fan life. Does this mean I should have chosen the spankees over the mets all along?

OK I AM GONNA STOP RIGHT HERE!

The first weekend of the big dance is in the books!  And what a weekend.  Perennial powerhouses Duke and Georgetown are out, and people are wondering when the clock will strike midnight for Cinderellas like Kansas State and Davidson.  And I just threw up in my mouth a little after writing that blatant cliche.  My apologies.

College Hoops!

Our DeepSlant NCAA Tournament Pool has yielded some interesting results through the first two rounds.  Let’s take a look:Week 1 Results

We see that choosing the top seeds will put you on top through the first few rounds.  However, we’ll see how H-Dub does through the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight rounds as some of the upset top seeds stop generating points (the aforementioned Duke and Georgetown) for him.

Our college hoops expert Obiora finds himself fourth in the rankings, behind our casual fans.  Our ladies are behind him in the standings at 5 and 6, but Lika was actually in first place after Day 1 of the tournament, picking Davidson and K. State in their upset victories.

And although my completely random bracket is in dead last, I do have the distinction of picking Western Kentucky, Davidson, and West Virginia correctly to be in the Sweet 16.  However, I also picked St. Mary’s, Temple, and American.  So this completely random bracket isn’t working out too well for your faithful correspondent.

But who knows?  Maybe the WKU Hilltoppers can shock the world.  The only way to find out is to stay tuned!
